Coffee Pleasure, Cocktail Thrill

Life's moving quickly. Jobs are moving quicker. One month a barista, next, a barwoman.

The former was a dream. I gained the thrill to make coffee. Even bought a Moka pot, hold a french press on the IKEA wish list, and definitely will get myself one of those tiny barista machines with a steam wand once I have my own place. Besides, it was the cutest coffee shop! The owner? Not so much. Still, worth the anxiety he has inflicted on my personal life because somehow, I am grateful for the experience. I recognise sometimes our strengths can be our weaknesses, but this man had some kind of superiority complex and almost made me feel sorry for being "opinionated", "argumentative", and "too natural" (wtv he meant by that) - I know, this was not one of those times. I was considering quitting when I got home on my last day. I called my dad and felt enlightened by his advice. Ironically, the Universe had other plans for me and didn't even give me the choice to exert my free will... about an hour later, received a WhatsApp text (professional right?) asking to return the uniform. Sometimes things are better that way and there is always something good we can take from bad occurrences.

The latter is more than serving pints and preparing cocktails! In fact, I only got to do that once (eh eh) but thought the contrast would sound funny. It's a uni job at the venues of my University and the roles go from making pizzas to checking bookings and campus cards. In general, it is a good time. Shifts are flexible, most people are students, you get to work with your friends, drink coffee and be on your phone. It's a chill place and I like that, with all that freedom, people remain responsible and take accountability (for the most part).
Yet, I start to think I might not be particularly skilled at food-related jobs... Don't get me wrong, I get it done... maybe... just not without someone getting spilt beer on their phones or burnt garlic bread. The truth is, I'm learning and I'm in such a nice place to do so :)
Hope you are all well! We'll talk soon x
